
ardy Pictures is an award-winning independent production company specialising in rigorously-sourced factual drama and inventive historical documentaries.
The company was founded by acclaimed director Justin Hardy in 2005, with producers Sue Horth and Lucy Bassnett-McGuire, to capitalize on a collective love of history. The company has since achieved consistent critical and awards success and increased turnover year-on-year.
The company’s first production, Trafalgar Battle Surgeon, won the RTS Award for Best History Film, 2005.
A Harlot’s Progress, broadcast in 2006, received two BAFTA nominations and paved the way for the recent hit Channel 4 series, City of Vice.
The Relief of Belsen, a powerful medical drama highlighting the unsung heroes of the Second World War, won Best Single Drama at the Broadcast Awards 2008 and has received BAFTA, RTS and Televisual nominations. In August 2008 it was also shortlisted for a Grierson Award.
